Fashion and War: A Day at the Museum

The museum in Collins Barracks is a huge exhibit focused on Irish military history and also on the fashion industry. There is a huge car park on the old military quadrangle and parking is free. Alternatively you could take the 103 bus from Ashbourne to O’Connell Street and then take the LUAS tram from Abbey Street to Collins Barracks.

Collins Barracks is right beside the Phoenix Park, one of the largest city parks in Europe. The Phoenix CafĂ© is a beautiful spot for lunch, in the grounds of the former Papal Nuncio’s residence.

If you’d like to do some shopping, there are a large selection of shops in Dublin’s city centre, along Grafton Street; along Henry Street; and in the Jervis Shopping Centre.

The Blanchardstown Shopping Centre is one of the largest retail centres, with a wide range of shops, cafes and a cinema.

After all of that running around, it’s nice to get back to your apartment, to relax and spend time catching up with family around the kitchen table.
